1.      What types of clothing do I need to bring?

For trekking in Nepal, you need to bring clothes that will be comfortable while trekking along the trails in Nepal. You do not need to bring any special clothing and the clothes you will normally ear during normal trekking will be ok. However, you should be wise enough to bring things like hats, long boots, etc. If you intend to do peak climbing and expedition, then you need mountaineering clothes that will protect from cold while climbing the peaks.

 2.      What's the currency and will I be able to change money easily?

The currency that is used in Nepal for daily purpose is Nepali currency—that is Nepali Rupees. However, you don’t need to worry as you can change almost any currency in Nepal. There are plenty of money exchangers in Nepal that will change your dollars and other foreign currencies instantly.

3.      Do I need an entry visa?

You will need an entry visa to enter Nepal which will be issued by the Nepali Embassy in your respective country. In some of the cases, you will be issued visa upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Moreover, you can extend your Nepal stay, if you wish, by applying for visa extension with necessary documents at the department of Immigration.

4.      What happens when I arrive in Kathmandu?

When you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be received by our travel representatives at the International Airport. Following your hospitable reception at the Airport, you will be taken to the hotel in Kathmandu where you will be staying. You will spend a comfortable night at the hotel and will also be briefed about the travel itinerary package.

5.      What sort of trekking routes does Nepal offer?

Broadly, there are three types of trekking routes available in Nepal. They are teahouse trekking, guesthouse trekking or lodge/hotel trekking. It means that you will be staying at teahouse, or guesthouse or hotel/lodges during the course of the trek. All these treks, however, offer fascinating trekking experiences which you are sure to enjoy during Nepal trekking.

6.      Are there different styles of trekking?

There indeed are different styles of trekking. Some prefer trekking in groups of 1-10 while others prefer walking and trekking alone just with their guides. And some tourists prefer to walk for long hours in a day to make the journey short, However, there are others who prefer to walk for limited hours in a day, enjoying every bit of the trek.

7.      Why do I need a guide?

Travel guides are very much necessary when it comes to trekking in Nepal. An experienced guide will have plenty of knowledge about the travel itinerary and it will be immense benefit to the prospective trekkers. Guides will explain whatever queries you have during the course of trek, and will also help you to correctly navigate through the itineraries. Hence, guides are very much indispensable while trekking in Nepal.

8.      How long will I be walking for each day?

The number of hours you walk each day can be planned according to the length of itinerary package, however, on an average; you will be walking around 4-5 hours each day. It will largely depend on the length, and the degree of difficulty of the itinerary.

9.      What are the paths and roads like?

The paths and roads which we come across during the course of the itinerary are quite good and comfortable. They will be comfortable enough to embark on trekking journey as you will surely enjoy walking along the trails while enjoying the beauty of the adjoining vicinity. Regarding the roads which you will use before reaching the trekking trail, they will all be black-topped Highways and very comfortable ones.

10.  What do I have to carry?

You need to carry along with you some of the materials which you will need during the course of the trekking. Things like water bottle, sunglasses, your carrying bag with other necessary stuffs should be carried by you. To carry other materials which might be necessary for the trek, we will have porters. So, you need not worry about that.

11.  Do I need to be super fit?

You need to have reasonable physical fitness for the trekking. This, however, does not mean that you should be super fit. Even a general physical fitness will be enough for trekking in Nepal. You do not have to do anything extra for that.

12.  Is trekking only for young people?

Even though trekking suits younger people, it does not mean that trekking in Nepal is only for the young people and not the adult and older ones. There are several trekking agencies who especially target the older and adult ones for the trekking, giving them special privilege. Hence, trekking in Nepal is for both young and the older ones.

13.  What’s the food like?

The food and the cuisine you will be eating during your Nepal trek will be typical Nepali foods. A typical Nepali food includes rice, vegetables, pickles and meat. You can, however, eat the food of your choice as we also have Thai, Chinese, Korean and other popular cuisines.

14.  Is trekking suitable for small children or families?

Though trekking is mostly suitable for adults and young-adults, there are some less strenuous trekking trails which are also suitable and especially tailor made for children and the families. They are mostly short trekking routes lasting barely few days, and which can also be accomplished by children and families.

15.  What can I expect on a fully organized (camping) trek?

On a fully organized (camping) trek, you don’t have to worry about the daily accommodation during the course of the trek. Helpers will help to set up tent everyday when you will spend the night at the tented camp. Foods will served there at the camp. Camping trek, in many ways, will be comfortable one as everything necessary will be at your disposal.

16.  I am going on a jungle safari. What should I bring?

If you are going on a jungle safari, you don’t have to worry about the things you need to bring along with you. Your travel agency will take care of the things necessary during the Jungle safari. Anyway, you don’t need anything extra during jungle safari. All you will need is some protective hat and clothing, a stick to navigate through the jungle. All these will be provided by the company that manages your itinerary.

17.  What’s included in the cost of my trek?

The cost of your trek will be inclusive of the accommodation, lodging, fooding and other charges that will be incurred during the course of the trek. It will however not include the miscellaneous costs during the trip. You will have to bear your personal expenses. Also the special equipments needed for mountain expedition will have to be brought by your or else you will have to cover up the expenses if you intend to buy them from the agency in Nepal.

18.  What’s not included in the cost of my trek?

Your miscellaneous and personal expenses, expenses for special mountaineering equipments and other stuffs besides regular accommodation and fooding facilities will not be included in the cost of the trek. Also, your insurance will not be covered in the trek cost.

19.  Will I meet local people?

Meeting local people is one of the fascinating and strongest aspects of trekking in Nepal, besides of course trekking along the exotic and amazing trekking trails. You will have plenty of chances to meet with local people, talk with them and learb more about their old culture and tradition.

20.  What happens if there are any problems?

Our representatives and the helpers, who will accompany you during the trek, will take care if any problem arises while in the trek. You don’t have to worry about it. Our guides and porters are quite experienced and they know about the possible problems that might arise, and hence most of the things are already planned in advance.

21.  What’s the typical group size?

The number of people in a typical group during the trek ranges from 2-10. The number, however, can depend on the nature of trekking itinerary and the size of the trekking entourage. It can also be adjusted as per your need.

22.  What about trekking permits?

You will need special trekking permits while trekking to the Restricted Area Trekking in Nepal such as the Upper Mustang Trek or the Upper and Lower Dolpo Trek. However, you don’t have to worry about acquiring the permit trek as it will be taken care by the agency. They will acquire the permit for your team through some government agency in Nepal.

23.  Why do we need acclimatization days?

Acclimatization to higher climate is very important when you are trekking in Nepal. When you are trekking over 4000 meters of height and beyond, it becomes very necessary to acclimatize before going up the altitude. Acclimatization will help you to adjust to the changing altitude and keeps you well prepared for the trek that awaits you on the days to come.

24.  What is altitude sickness and how might it affect me?

If you don’t acclimatize well to the increasing altitude, then you might suffer from high altitude sickness which is very dangerous. You will have breathing difficulty and problems with respiration during altitude sickness. In severe conditions, you will go numb, your brain will stop working and one might even die in extreme of circumstances. Hence, you need to be extra careful about acclimatization and the possible consequences of high altitude sickness.

25.  How can I contact friends and family?

These days you will have facilities of making international calls, or surfing internet even during the course of your trek. You can check your emails and contact your families even when you are in the midst of the mountains while in the trek. Contacting your friends and relatives will not be a problem as Nepal has of late made rapid progress in the field of technology and communication.

26.  What about tipping and bargaining?

If you find yourself satisfied with the services we offer to you, then you are always welcome to provide us with the tip that will inspire us furthermore to continue with the quality services. However, there is no any such obligation or compulsion that you need to provide us with the tip. It is solely up to you. Regarding bargaining, the prices we have set for the itinerary are well thought and quite reasonable. Hence, it does not look like you need to bargain for cheaper price.

27.  I've heard there are political problems and other activities in Nepal. What is the current situation?

It is true that there was political instability in Nepal during the Maoist civil war. But that was more than a decade ago. Now, Nepal is quite peaceful and the current situation is very much favorable and suitable for trekking. Minor problems will always be there in politics, like in other countries, but that will not hamper the sector of tourism as tourists have continued to pour in this beloved country.
